About the Fund
The Thomas F. Farrell II Legacy Fund honors the enduring impact of a visionary leader whose commitment to Virginia’s progress shaped its civic, educational, and economic landscape. As a dedicated public servant, business leader, and advocate for equity and innovation, Farrell served as Chairman, President, and CEO of Dominion Energy, where he led transformative initiatives to modernize infrastructure, invest in clean energy, and expand economic opportunity across the Commonwealth.
Beyond his corporate leadership, Farrell championed the arts, higher education, and public policy. He served on numerous boards, including those of the University of Virginia, the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, the State Council of Higher Education, Theatre IV (Virginia Repertory Theater), and United Way, among others. He was instrumental in driving forward public-private partnerships that strengthened Virginia’s national competitiveness and community well-being.
The Legacy Fund, established in his name, continues Farrell’s lifelong mission: to invest in leadership development, educational access, and strategic initiatives that shape a stronger, more inclusive Virginia. Through the delivery of grants, scholarships, and partnerships, the Fund empowers future leaders who share his vision for thoughtful stewardship and bold civic engagement.
